WRENTIT OR-381
The Pacific Coast, South Slough Sanctuary, Coos Bay, Oregon
May 22, 6:38 a.m.
Sunrise at 5:45 a.m.
A wrentit at close range, just five yards away from me yet so well concealed in the brush that I never see him. He sings beautifully, six songs in the first minute, then three more later.
She can be heard, too, giving only what sounds like the slow introductory notes of the male's song, but at a little higher frequency. Listen in the background between the male's two songs beginning at 1:27 and continuing through the next song.
Background
Wind off the Pacific.
