An eastern whip-poor-will in good form, jarring the early morning with his relentless tk-WHIP-poor-WILL. He sings each second, at the rapid-fire pace of nearly 60 songs a minute, one after the other, each one just like the others.

Background

A great crested flycatcher in dawn song, and a northern cardinal awaking, both heard best at a lull in the nightjar's singing (at 0:20).
